April kanzashi

In this traditional tsumami kanzashi I put all the wonder that can be felt in front of the spectacle of Hanami.

In April the blossoming of cherry trees is accompanied by canola meadows that become a yellow mantle. So, in the Japanese spring landscape, there are three layers: yellow on the ground, pink on trees and light blue in the sky.

The fabrics I used come from some tanmono (fabric rolls for kimono) of pink and yellow rinzu silk. The organza light blue butterfly recalls the sky and, as final touch, I added two dangling sagari with faceted beads at their ends. Please contact me if you like to substitute those beads with two bells.

Kanzashi is a long hairpin with two prongs that is usually pinned on an up-do, making the pendants swing on the side of the face.
