“The great weave off Kanagawa” brooch

For an art lover, I couldn’t wait to try to transform some paintings into objects made with tsumami zaiku.

In this case we are talking of “The great weave off Kanagawa”, the very famous print by Hokusai Katsushika from 1831.

It is the first and the most known inside the series called “Thirty-six views of mount Fuji”, with many copies conserved in many museums worldwide.

Synthetizing to the max the image in a little round, reproducing the details of the weave foam was not easy, but I hope I did justice to the original.

These brooches are made with hand-dyed silk and each has some pieces folded in a different way. The water drops are white beads.
