Summer Maiko brooch

75,00

The classic silhouette of a maiko (geisha apprentice) walking down the streets of Kyoto with her long obi swinging with every step: this is the image of this brooch where I tried to put as many details as possible.

The summer version of this brooch has a darari obi decorated with the “Shippō” pattern, a good omen motif from Buddhism that represents the “seven treasures”.

She is wearing a blu kimono which recalls the indigo dye, very typical of summer, and has embroidered accessories and wooden okobo.

I used different kinds of fabrics and materials to make the beauty of maiko traditional costume the better I could.

This brooch is made entirely by hand. It needs to be worn and handled with care.
