Shikishi “Flowers and months”

Remembering similar works made before, I felt a bit nostalgic for painting, for colors and brushes.

Then I created this series or little paintings on shikishi, white boards used for Japanese calligraphy and ink painting, enriched by a golden frame and equipped with a cord to hang them.

Plants are represented with ink, watercolors and, three-dimensionally, with hand-dyed silk.

Every piece represents a month of the year following the blooming of that moment and they are all one-of-a-kind.
